Justin Leeming with work in progress

Menston based graphic designer, photographer and artist, Justin Leeming, has over 30 years experience of working in the design and print industry.

Originally from Accrington in Lancashire, Justin did a Fine Art degree in Leicester specialising in painting and print-making in the early 1990s. Justin has lived in Wharfedale since the millennium. He offers graphic design and illustration services, including photography, and is also a figurative painter.

Working primarily in acrylic or oil on canvas, he produces one off, usually large scale pieces influenced by personal events and experiences. A graphic designer by trade, typography has started to feature more and more in his paintings.

Justin has exhibited his work in both Saltaire and Ilkley Art Trails, the Bradford Open at Cartwright Hall, Munroe House in Leeds and at the Haworth Art Gallery in Accrington.

His ‘Northern Tones Triptych', shown in the 2017 Bradford Open at Cartwright Hall, was praised by one of the judges Von Allen. The acrylic painting 'From Where I'm Standing' won the people's vote at the Leicester Open in 1994.

'THIEF’ has been selected for the New Light Art Prize Exhibition and will be exhibited in five different locations across England from October 2023 for the next year and a half. This painting was last on display in 2022 at The Haworth Art Gallery and was highly commended.

'Garrulus Garamond (lower case j)' was recently exhibited in ‘The Written Word’ exhibition at the Tinker Gallery in Ilkley.

Justin also has a passion for live music and has been documenting the West Yorkshire music scene with his camera, for the past two decades.
